I always felt like I was as informed as possible and that was so important to me.</p> <p>As a first-time buyer, Simon went out of his way to show me everything under the sun so I could understand what fixer-upper and turn key really meant. Our experience with Simon was incredible. He was extremely patient with all my questions. Simon always made himself available to us and always went the extra mile (like staying up until midnight the night we were supposed to close the deal at 8pm, but external factors from the seller made things difficult and delayed). Simon was always punctual whether it was with in-person viewings, phone calls, emails, etc. He was truthful when pointing things out in homes that could be problematic (as young, first-time buyers, this was extremely important as we had never gone through this experience before and didn’t always know what to look for), and gave advice that never felt like he was just trying to make a sale. Again, as we had never gone through this process before, Simon added a lot of value to the process with his network of supporting services that he was able to provide/recommend to us (like the lawyer, home inspector, etc). It was obvious that Simon loves to work with first-time buyers because of the extra excitement that comes with it. Simon spent a lot of time listening to our concerns, helped us with budgeting, broke down realistic costs and unknown expenses we would likely have to deal with, and he has continued to provide support even after we took possession. It has been over a year now and he still checks in with us! We have recommended Simon to a number of friends and will continue to do so. If we ever find ourselves in the market again we will 100% be using Simon. I can’t recommend him enough.

I had a FABULOUS experience buying my first home! Simon was very patient with me asking a million questions. I learned a lot from him looking at many condos and townhouses in the specific area I wanted to live in. He was very knowledgeable at listing the pros and cons for each place. I would definitely use Simon again and have referred him to friends and family.

We came from abroad to scout for a house in the Calgary area with hardly any knowledge of the area and none of the housing market. Simon Strydhorst was strongly recommended to us by friends who had worked with him before and who held him in the highest regards. They were 100% right. Within an hour of contacting Simon by email we received his response. Five days later our scouting trip had resulted in a signed purchase contract with terms and conditions negotiated beyond our wildest expectations. We now live in the house since September 2020 and every day call ourselves fortunate that we got it. And all thanks to Simon’s professionalism. When we first met, Simon instantly established trust, which turned the stress of looking for a house in fact into a fun project. He quickly understood our drivers and was able to identify options with us that could be potential fits. While sensitive to our wishes and needs, he did not shy away from warning against bad ideas. This, and his tough but fair negotiation skills and his research into the background of properties we visited saved us a lot of money in the end and overdelivered on our expectations. Moreover, he had made sure we had explored the full range of options fitting our interests, so we knew that we had not overlooked some attractive alternative. Throughout the process, Simon went the extra mile as a standard, providing help wherever we needed (and as foreigners we needed it a lot!), like in finding a bank, coordinating the technical home inspection, and taking care of the pre-possession inspection we could not do ourselves. And to make us feel welcome in the home from day one, he added the personal touch of a welcoming basket – just one of those personal gestures that make him stand out in our eyes. In summary, Simon is extremely knowledgeable, very personable, not pushy, sensitive to a client’s needs and constraints, completely reliable, and an expert negotiator. We would not even think about going with someone else a next time. Simon, many thanks!

This was the third time we worked with Simon. With his expert guidance through this process, and his careful attention to setting the correct price and professional photos of our home, we had the only home that sold in our neighborhood during a particularly difficult time in the market.

Simon was fantastic for explaining the real estate process to a first time buyer. I really valued that he would give me his honest opinion on properties and he had great insights on the properties that I wouldn't have thought of. He made himself very available to work around my schedule. He was a great negotiator when it came time to make an offer and I was very impressed with the final price we got. I would absolutely recommend Simon to any friends or family looking to buy a home.
